Joe Briand is the General Manager of Herbsaint Restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana. He began his fine dining career as a waiter on the opening staff of Herbsaint in 2000, and moved into management two years later. He took over as General Manager when the restaurant reopened in October 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. As Chef Donald Link was opening Cochon Restaurant in 2006, Joe was heavily involved in the staffing and training. With his extensive experience within the company, Joe left his position as General Manager of Herbsaint to become Director of Operations for the newly formed Link Restaurant Group. The move coincided with the opening of Cochon Butcher, a casual deli/wine bar and Calcasieu, a full service private dining facility. Joe spent the next 2 years overseeing all aspects of front of the house service and the wine program for all of Donald Link’s restaurants. Joe was named Sommelier of the Year by City Business in 2009 and is currently serving as the Treasurer on the Board of the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation. Joe left the Link Restaurant Group in 2009 to pursue another opportunity, but has returned home to his original position as General Manager of Herbsaint to ensure that the restaurant upholds its commitment to providing an unparalleled dining experience for its guests.
